Location
Walker’s Landing is situated on the east shore of pristine Kootenay Lake in south eastern British Columbia nestled between the majestic Selkirk Mountains to the west and Purcell Mountains to the east.
We are just one hour east of historic Nelson (including a 30 minute scenic ride on the world’s longest free ferry) and one hour north of Creston, an important fruit growing valley. We are seven hours southwest from Calgary, Alberta and nine hours east of Vancouver.
Driving Directions
From Nelson (1 hour/42 kms)
- East on Highway 3A to Balfour (approx. 40 kms)
- Board free ferry at the Balfour ferry terminal. (Ferries (link to www.westernpacificmarine.com) run hourly in the summer months.) (approx. 35 minutes)
- Drive 1 km. up the hill from the Kootenay Bay ferry terminal
- Turn left to Riondel on Riondel Road
- Drive approximately1 km north on Riondel Road
- Turn left onto Walker’s Landing Road
- Follow signs to Walker’s Landing Waterfront Development
From Cranbrook via Creston, BC (approx. 3 hours/230 kms from Cranbrook and 1.25 hours/85 kms from Creston)
- West on Highway 3 from Cranbrook (approx. 1.5 hours)
- Turn north on Highway 3 to Creston just past the town of Yak
- Drive through Creston and follow signs to Highway 3A for Kootenay Bay/Boswell and the ferry (approx 1.5 hours/78 kms)
- Turn right to the town of Riondel (approx. 1 km before the ferry landing)
- Drive 1 km north on Riondel Road
- Turn left onto Walkers Landing Road
- Follow the signs to Walker’s Landing Waterfront Development
From Calgary (approx. 6.5 to 7.0 hours/450 kms)
- West on TransCanada Highway 1 to the Highway 93 turnoff just west of Banff
- Southwest on Highway 93 to Radium
- South from Radium on Highway 93/95 to Cranbrook turnoff
- Turn left onto Highway 95 to Cranbrook
- West through Cranbrook on Highway 3
- Turn right toward Creston on Highway 3
- West on Highway 3 to Creston
- North on Highway 3A to Kootenay Bay-Balfour Ferry
- Turn Right on Riondel Road to Riondel 1 km. before Kootenay Bay Ferry
- Drive 1 km. and turn left onto Walker’s Landing Road
